Germans, more than any other nation, love to recreate their cities and major landmarks in miniature. The Model Park, located in the eastern part of Berlin, has more than 80 models for visitors to see. Each one is built to a scale of 1:25, so you can get an in-depth look at each object. It should be noted that all the models in the park are only on display during the warmer months and not all year round. So if you come to Berlin Model Park in the winter, you will find the doors closed.
There is a lot to see and do at Modellpark. You can show your child the most important architectural sights of Berlin in miniature.
It's best to start with a visit to the German capital to decide which places you want to see in life-size. Each exhibit in the model park has its own musical accompaniment: the churches have melodious bells, the theatres lyrical melodies, and so on.
One of the most popular tourist destinations is the Reichstag building. This architectural object is made with the utmost precision down to the smallest detail. Even the glass dome looks very realistic and monumental. Walk a little further away from the Reichstag and you will see the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. The original model has another unofficial name, the Hollow Tooth. This is the popular nickname given to the church because of its collapsed spire.
Just 5 km away is the Tierpark Berlin Friedrichsfelde, a great place to walk with children
Continuing on, you will find miniatures of Berlin's palaces, town halls and mills, as well as the beautiful Frankfurt Gate and Brandenburg Gate, and scale replicas of moving vehicles such as trams, trains, boats and even a small section of the Metro.
Don't forget to take these models with you to see them in action. Modelpark captures the spirit of Berlin's amusement parks in a very realistic way. Rides, a hot air balloon in the air, merry-go-rounds — everything twists, turns, jingles and is accompanied by fun music.
In Berlin's miniature park, everything has been thought out down to the last detail. Not only are all of Berlin's major landmarks and strategic sites remarkably accurate, but the magnificent landscaping around the scale replicas is extremely well done. If there is a lawn, pond or flowerbed in front of a real building or church, there is one in front of every replica.
A manicured lawn, a pavement lined with miniature stones, a small lake — the grounds of the Berlin Miniature Centre are astonishingly beautiful and well maintained.
