Legoland Discovery Centre in Oberhausen is a theme park for Lego fans. The creators of these popular plastic building-block toys know that it is loved by children and adults alike, so visitors of all ages can enjoy themselves at the park. What can visitors to the centre expect?
First, a visit to the Lego factory. It is very pleasant to see how small plastic balls are turned into colourful bricks and then to buy the freshly made parts. If you do not buy directly from the factory, you can buy everything you need in the centre's shop.
The next step in the Lego world is a trip to Miniland. It's a small town where everything is made out of Lego pieces. The streets are full of cars and people, construction is underway, merry-go-rounds are spinning in the park, footballers are kicking the ball around — in short, real life is in full swing.
Lego bricks are used in almost all of the centre's sculptures, rides and playgrounds. A giant Batman or Darth Vader made of Lego bricks is just as impressive as the movie characters themselves. Even the fish in the pond are not only alive, but made up of tiny pieces.
Children will definitely want to go on the Legoland rides. A simple roller coaster turns into a fairyland ride or a ghost hunt, and a laser maze makes kids feel like agile ninjas.
Not far from the centre is the Sea Life aquarium.
There is a separate play area for the little ones, where they can play with the DUPLO construction set, with big pieces to build towers quickly and easily. Active children will love playing as young policemen and firemen. Finally, there is a play area for younger visitors with lots of cushions, also made from Lego bricks. For those children who like to combine play with technical creativity, there is a special track for testing Lego cars. There is also a special seismic panel to test the resistance of houses to earthquakes — can a house built by a builder survive an earthquake?
After playing, you can visit a 4D cinema and then have a snack in the Legoland Discovery Centre café. The centre regularly hosts theme days dedicated to popular characters, such as those from the Star Wars saga.
