Aquapark Oberhausen

Aquapark Oberhausen

Germany, Oberhausen

The former industrial centre of Oberhausen, once an active coal mining area, has developed into a liveable city with many places for families to enjoy. One of these places is the water park. As a tribute to the past, there is a tower in the middle of the water park that resembles a coal mine derrick. Such reminiscent details are everywhere, but they only enhance the stylish modern design.

In 2011, AQUApark was ranked third among the best waterparks in Germany (winner of the Parkscout Award 2011). Also in 2018, AQUApark Oberhausen won the Public Value Award for the public pool.

The entire water park area of around 25,000 square metres is divided into three parts: a sports zone, an entertainment zone and an open-air recreation zone. In the amusement area, there are many waterslides to suit all tastes. The same climbing tower is transformed into a high and steep slide. There are 105 and 120 metre slides with light and sound effects. There is also a shallow pool surrounded by rocks and a low slide.

The children's pool has a play area with water guns and small waterfalls, and you can hire armbands or an inflatable rubber ring. The lazy river and Jacuzzi pools are ideal for a relaxing break. This area is under a dome, but on hot summer days the dome can be opened to allow you to sunbathe between slides.

The sports area is for those who want to keep fit. But there is also something for children who love competition. A 25-metre, 6-lane swimming pool, diving towers and a fitness pool will keep you active and healthy.

The outdoor area is perfect for beach lovers. It is lovely to bask in the sun and then take a dip in the large pool or refresh yourself in the waterfall. There's plenty of space for children to run around on the grass. Teenagers can play beach volleyball in the playground. There is also a water station next to the beach where you can hire a scooter or take a boat trip.

There are two cafes inside the water park and a drinks and ice cream kiosk outside. There is also a store for swimming equipment. If you haven't planned a trip to the water park, you can buy everything you need there. A visit to Oberhausen with children can also include a visit to the Sea Life Aquarium, the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre and Planet Lasertag.
