Overview
The four-star Hyperion Hotel Alpina Garmisch-Partenkirchen is part of the regional Treff hotel chain and is situated almost in the centre of the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Just like a hundred years ago, people still come to Garmisch for the fresh air, alpine beauty and winter sports.
Some of the spacious, quiet rooms with sofa beds in addition to the regular beds are set up as family rooms. If your room is on the ground floor, you will not only have a magnificent view from your window, but you will also have direct access to the patio through your own terrace. The baths, combined with a shower and equipped with handrails, are very practical for bathing small children. Some rooms have a kitchenette, but unfortunately no cooking utensils or crockery.
Guests eat in the hotel's only restaurant, which serves a buffet breakfast in the morning and a la carte meals later in the day. Special diet meals are available if required and special meals can be prepared on request. In the evening, the fireplace lounge opens for a delicious meal or a warm drink by the fire. The Hyperion Hotel Alpina Garmisch-Partenkirchen has a children's playroom.
For an alternative to the hotel restaurant, walk into the town centre where most of the local restaurants and shops are located. Be warned, many shops are closed on Sundays and Saturday is open until lunchtime.
The village goes to bed very early and there are no nightclubs or other late-night revelries. But for history and sport lovers, Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a real oasis. There is a bus stop outside the hotel that will take you to the Hausberg, which has a learning area for the little ones. The village itself has a children's ski school, a stadium with a swimming pool (if the hotel pool isn't enough for you), a bowling alley, an ice rink, ski and equipment hire and all the necessary infrastructure of a ski resort.
In summer you can go hiking or mountain biking. Visit Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau and Linderhof, the area's historic heritage sites. And when the tranquillity of the Alps wears you out, take the train to nearby cities such as Innsbruck, Munich or Salzburg.

Hyperion Hotel Alpina Garmisch-Partenkirchen is located in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a well-known ski resort in Germany, a 10-minute walk from the town's train station. The resort is 120km from Munich International Airport and 60km from Innsbruck Airport.
Garmisch is connected to other German cities by train and bus.
In Munich, a high speed train (lines S1, S8) takes you from the airport to the main station, where regular trains depart for the resort. From Innsbruck there is a regional train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen every hour or so.
You can also use the local taxi service or hire a car to get to the hotel.

A buffet breakfast served in the hotel restaurant can be included in the room rate when booking. The hearty morning menu includes a variety of cereals, eggs in a variety of forms, yoghurt and jams, fruit, cold cuts and the obligatory Bavarian sausages. A glass of juice or tea is accompanied by freshly baked pastries.
The chefs are on hand to prepare meals to your specifications should you require them.
The à la carte restaurant serves traditional German dishes as well as international cuisine throughout the day. An outdoor area in the hotel's courtyard is open during the summer. For half-board guests or those who simply want to enjoy a cosy atmosphere, dinner is served in the fireplace lounge, accompanied by a good wine for the adults and a fragrant tea for the younger guests. The restaurant is open until approximately 21:00 and the bar in the Fireside Room is open until 22:30.
Finding a substitute for the hotel's cuisine won't be too difficult — it's literally a 10-15 minute walk to Marienplatz, with its many restaurants, pubs and shops. You always have the choice of grabbing a table in one of the pubs or picking up some delicacies for a quiet dinner in your room. The main thing to remember is that most local shops are open until 1.30pm on Saturdays and closed on Sundays.
A large bottle of carbonated water is provided in your room every day. Early check-out options include packed lunches.
