Overview
The four-star Hotel Staudacherhof History & Lifestyle is located almost in the centre of the ski resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is as famous both for its slopes and its rich history. The hotel itself is a family business, over 100 years old.
All you need to know is that families are welcome here. The owners themselves recommend a suite, although they point out that almost any of the 39 rooms could be made into a family home for a family of three or four. As well as the wooden furniture and comfortable bathrooms that come as standard, the rooms can be supplemented with everything from a baby cot to a footstool in the bathroom, bottle steriliser and other necessities.
A local chef starts serving meals at 7.30am, and most of the produce and dishes (even the cereals) are either homemade or sourced from local farmers. No matter what time of day you're at the hotel, you'll never go hungry. You can even snack on dried fruit in the lobby, enjoy a treat at the Alpinum Spa's fruit bar or drink a cup of organic tea in the wellness area. The chef can easily prepare a special meal for you or your little one if you have special dietary requirements.
Many people come to Garmisch for the mountains and fresh air. If you have to stay at the hotel, the little ones won't be bored. As well as two swimming pools, there's a children's playroom, an outdoor playground and a video games corner.
Bicycles, golf clubs, skis, toboggans and coaches can be hired for those looking for an active holiday. There is also a children's ski school, a stadium with a swimming pool, a bowling alley and an ice rink in the resort village.

Directions
The family-run Staudacherhof Hotel is located in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a popular ski resort in Germany, a 20-minute walk from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen train station. The resort is 123 km from Munich International Airport and 54 km from Innsbruck Airport.
Trains run regularly from Munich to the spa from Munich Central Station. The station is connected to Munich Airport by a high-speed train. From Innsbruck, the regional train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen departs approximately once an hour. Once you arrive in Garmisch, you can easily hail a taxi from the station square to your hotel.
You can also take advantage of regional taxi services, or hire a car for your own personal journey.

Food and Drink
A buffet breakfast, served in the hotel restaurant, can be included in the room rate when booking. In the morning, guests are invited to taste authentic farmer's bread, homemade cheese, delicious pastries and homemade oatmeal, natural yoghurt, egg dishes, croissants, jams and milk. All dishes are served with a view of the mountains in the morning mist.
In the afternoon, the lounge dining room serves hot soup of the day, a salad buffet and main courses from the current menu. For dessert, freshly baked muffins and scones are served with a cup of hot tea. Dinner consists of a five-course menu — starter, salad buffet, soup or main course, vegetarian, Bavarian meat or signature dish and dessert.
The rich and hearty food served by the local chef leaves little or no room for other restaurants in Garmisch. However, if you prefer the home-style cooking of the Staudacherhof, there are plenty of other restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk of the centre, including the Italian restaurant La Baita and the vegetarian-only Cassio Paya.
