Superior Erlebnishotel Colosseo Europa Park
Europa-Park-Str. 4+6 | 77977 Rust, Germany
Overview
The four-star Superior Erlebnishotel Colosseo Europa Park is located on the grounds of Europe's famous Europa Park. Not surprisingly, 99% of guests see the hotel as an extension of the park's attractions. Those looking for quiet, leisurely vacation won't find it here, but for the rest of visitors, the fun starts in the Roman-inspired rooms.
Bunk beds in the shape of chariots, archways and antique furniture will get children's emotions racing. The hand-painted and decorated walls are appreciated even by sceptical adults. Some rooms are not in the main horseshoe-shaped building, but in the nearby replica of the Colosseum in Rome. Note that standard and standard+ rooms do not have air conditioning, which is good if you spend all your time in the park rather than in the hotel.
All the local restaurants are sure to have Italian motifs on the menu, even if it's a breakfast and dinner buffet. But it won't be the variety of dishes and special menus that the little ones will remember. It is the live toys that greet the children in the morning and the fountains in the courtyard that will be remembered by young tourists.
The main attraction in Rust is undoubtedly Europa Park, Europe's largest theme park. But that does not mean there is nothing else to do. Don't forget to pack your swimming costume, as the hotel has an outdoor pool that is open all year round. There is also a children's corner in the lobby with an exciting slide. For those who don't want to stop working out, there's a huge fitness centre (for guests over 16 only).
In the evenings, the improvised square in the hotel's courtyard is transformed into a real Roman piazza, where crowds gather for evening performances. The Superior Hotel Colosseo is open until late at night and only for a few hours. You have to get up early in the morning to enjoy the privilege of being a hotel guest and entering the park long before it officially opens.

Food and Drink
The Superior Hotel Colosseo Europa Park has several restaurants and bars, of which only Cesare and Medici are open all year round and all others are open exclusively during the park season. Breakfast buffets are served in the mornings and can be included in the room rate or paid for separately.
All of the facilities are more or less Italian themed, in keeping with the overall style of the hotel. Even the substantial continental breakfast fits in well with this concept, with several types of pastries, cheese and meat platters, hot and vegetable dishes, various desserts, juices and hot drinks. In addition, the chef is happy to adapt the meals if a child has food allergies or a special diet. In summer, you can choose to have breakfast indoors or outdoors by the fountain.
Buffet dinners are served at the Antica Roma. To enjoy authentic Italian cuisine, it's best to book a table in advance. The restaurant's popularity makes it a very lively place. For a quieter, more intimate evening, try a la carte dining at Cesare or Medici.
The Commedia dell'Arte and Colosseo bars are open during the park season. Commedia dell'Arte's signature ice cream and non-smoking rooms make it a great place for lunch or an evening out for the whole family. Visitors enjoy the Colosseo Bar not only for its original cocktails but also for its wide selection of drinks.
In the afternoon, La Romantica Pizzeria serves authentic homemade Italian pizzas and delicious desserts. Most restaurants and cafes have vegetarian menus, dairy-free and plant-based protein-free dishes.
The proximity of Europa Park removes any restrictions on where you choose to eat next. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés scattered around the park, a full list of which can be found on the website (http://europapark.de/en/park/food-and-beverage-europa-park). For water and chips at non-tourist prices you'll have to walk to the nearby Aldi minimart.
For Suite guests in the Coliseum arches, there's a welcome fruit platter from the hotel.
